September 4, 2024, the Logistics Management Study Program of Politeknik Transportasi Darat Bali conducted a Community Service activity by visiting the PLUS Traffic Monitoring Centre (TMC) at Persada PLUS, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. This visit aimed to enhance understanding of digital transformation in the logistics sector while also strengthening the role of academia in supporting societal and business development through technological innovation. This activity carried the theme “Digital Transformation in the Logistics Sector: The Key to International Trade Success.
The main focus of the event was on technological innovations involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) introduced to support transportation and logistics safety. One of the key innovations discussed was an AI system capable of identifying individuals at risk of suicide or attempting to jump from bridges. In addition, AI is also being used to detect vehicles exceeding permitted dimensions on the road.
The team from the Traffic Monitoring Centre (TMC) also explained the handling procedures for over-dimension vehicles. These vehicles are fined, and the drivers are issued warnings to comply with vehicle dimension regulations.
In addition to discussing advanced technology, the PKM event also provided education on handling emergencies on highways. The facilities and systems owned by TMC were introduced, including post-accident protocols aimed at ensuring road users’ safety.
It is hoped that through these technological innovations, the “Zero Vision 2030” vision, which focuses on road safety and security, can be achieved. The education provided is expected to raise awareness of the importance of road safety for road users and contribute positively to the development of the international logistics sector.
